Onihiro オニヒロ

Onihiro is the workshop of young Japanese blacksmith Masahiro Fujita, based in Tosa, Kochi Prefecture, a region renowned for its traditional blade making heritage. Fujita developed an interest in hand forging while at university and entered the craft at just 23. He trained at the Tosa Forged Blades School (Kajiya Soseijuku), graduating as part of its inaugural class.

Rooted in the traditions of Tosa Uchi hamono, Onihiro knives are made using traditional free forging techniques. Their rustic character is defined by distinctive kurouchi finishes and traditional carbon steels, including Shirogami #1 (White Paper Steel), prized for its excellent edge retention, sharpness and ease of sharpening.

Onihiro knives offer an appealing combination of traditional craftsmanship, impressive cutting performance and affordability. Designed as practical working tools, they deliver excellent sharpness without unnecessary refinement.
