Yoshikane Hamono was established in 1919 by master blacksmith Yoshikane Kasahara in Sanjo City, a region with a long-standing tradition of blacksmithing and metalwork. The company began by forging tools, such as sickles and other agricultural implements, before transitioning into crafting kitchen knives. The company has remained family-owned, passing down blacksmithing skills and techniques through generations.

Today, Yoshikane Hamono is helmed by descendants of the founder who uphold the company’s legacy while embracing modern innovations. While they preserve traditional hand-forging techniques, Yoshikane also incorporates advancements like the use of high-grade steels and contemporary handle designs to meet the needs of modern chefs worldwide.
