Isasmedjan is a Swedish knife-making workshop founded and operated by Jonas Johnsson. Jonas’s interest in blacksmithing was significantly enhanced after attending a basic blacksmithing course at Ryfors Bruk in Sweden, taught by Gustav Thane, one of the country’s most renowned blacksmiths. Following this experience, Jonas established his own forge and began crafting knives.  

Since early 2019, Jonas has been running Isasmedjan as a full-time bladesmith and knifemaker, focusing primarily on chef knives. His creations are known for their combination of functionality and artistic design, often drawing inspiration from both Japanese and Western blacksmithing traditions. Jonas takes pride in creating functional pieces of art and is constantly seeking inspiration and knowledge to make the best products possible, suitable for their tasks and also pleasant to the eye.  

In addition to crafting knives, Jonas also offers knifemaking courses and custom-made knives, allowing enthusiasts to learn the craft or own a personalized piece. His workshop is located in southern Sweden, in the historical forge at Ebbamåla Bruk, where visitors can take guided tours during the summer. Jonas feels truly honored to work in these surroundings, feeling humbled by the thought of all the blacksmiths that have used the forge before him.
